As evidenced by the graph above, industrial production trends closely correlate with overall demand for industrial space in the United States. Industrial production, which measures output for the industrial sector of the economy (including manufacturing, mining, and utilities), experienced its sharpest decline in 2009 as industrial demand plummeted to over 125 msf of negative net absorption.
