Global Firm Breaks Ground For Gold LEED-designed Offices In Midvale

Lt. Governor, Mayors Of Midvale, Salt Lake County And Salt Lake Chamber

Welcome FLSmidth To View72 Corporate Center

August 4, 2009, Midvale, UT – The first tenant in what will be Utah’s largest class A office park will join government and business leaders to break ground today at 3:00 p.m.  FLSmidth will occupy two buildings designed for LEED-certification inside the 90-acre View72 Corporate Center in Midvale City.

FLSmidth is headquartered in Denmark with locations in more than 40 countries.  It is a leading supplier of equipment and services to the minerals and cement industry.  View72 will become a new regional center for the global company when construction is complete in July 2010.   All of its Utah employees – 400 engineers, technicians and support staff – will move from their current four locations in the Salt Lake Valley to the new 170,000 square foot facilities.

Time: 3:00 – 3:30 p.m.

Participants, comments from:  Lt. Governor Gary R. Herbert, Midvale Mayor JoAnn B. Seghini, Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon, Salt Lake Chamber COO Natalie Gochnour.

FLSmidth management leaders:   President & CEO Christian Jepsen, Group Executive Vice President and Deputy CEO George Robles, Vice President Business Development Robert Coomes, Vice President of the Americas Peter Flanagan

View72 developers: Gardner Company President Kem Gardner and CEO Christian Gardner.  Arbor Commercial CEO and Founder John Gust.

Location:  View72 Corporate Center in Midvale, 7200 South 1000 West (From 7200 South, turn south at 1000 West.  Look for FLSmidth signage).

“This move will streamline our research and development,” said Robert Coomes, Vice President Business Development at FLSmidth.   “Midvale City has been a great partner in making this happen.  Our employees will have the benefit of mass transit, easy access to the major freeways and open space.  Newly built homes, condominiums and apartments will be just across the street.”

In Utah, FLSmidth specializes in separating base and precious metals from rock and earth extracted from mining operations.   Robert Coomes added, “In this new location, our researchers and product managers will be side-by-side as they perform product testing or lab work.  This will fast-track the creative process as we develop new technology, and new ways to recycle the water used in the mineral extraction process, which is a precious Utah resource.”

Midvale City, in partnership with locally based Gardner Company and Arbor Commercial, has been planning the View72 Corporate Center since 2007.  The office park’s  two million square feet of class A office and technology/lab buildings are designed to be environmentally sensitive and energy efficient using state-of-the-art technology and materials.  It will enhance the lifestyles of the employees who work there, and foster the success of business.

“This is the last expanse of open space in the middle of the Salt Lake Valley,” said Midvale Mayor JoAnn Seghini.  “We are proud and excited to have FLSmidth as View72’s first tenant.  We believe this development will open the door for additional businesses who want to relocate and bring quality jobs to Utah.”

View72 features:

§  20 percent of the land is dedicated to open space, including parks, walking and biking trails.  Jordan River Parkway rims View72 on the west side.

§  Community fostering fountains and courtyards.

§  Retail businesses, restaurants, banking services, and an on-site luxury hotel.

§  One TRAX station and immediate access to major freeways I-15, I-215 and I-80.

§  A newly built highway, Bingham Junction Boulevard, with easy access to 7200 South and 9000 South.

§  A mix of 1900 master planned units, including 1200 apartments and condominiums/townhomes currently being developed by Wasatch Advantage Group of Salt Lake City, UT.

Utah-based Commerce CRG’s Kip Paul and Jon Cowley are the leasing agents for View72, and can be reached at (801) 322-2000.   FLSmidth’s Robert Coomes added, “As part of our relocation and consolidation strategy, we engaged Greg Pavich and his team at Coldwell Banker Commercial, who helped us in the past with our previous relocation.  They assisted us in a process that took over two years, and included our needs analysis, site location options and comparisons.  In the end, at the direction of FLSmidth, Greg and Scott Roberts negotiated a very favorable deal for us that will accommodate our needs over the long term.”

View72 is part of a larger development underway on land once referred to as Bingham Junction, a former Superfund Site.  In 2008, the EPA declared it cleaned and ready for commercial and residential use.
